Human Design

Human Design is a system that suggests the way that a person is meant to make decisions will fit into one of three categories. It further suggests that how one is to interact with others fits into one of four categories. Which category is correct for an individual is determined by a system that utilizes a unique combination of astrology, I Ching, Kabballah, and the Chakras.
From the time and place of one’s birth, a chart is created through a free software program. One can enter those two bits of information at www.jovianarchive.com , and then download and print the chart for free. Further information about your categories and more details specific to your chart can also be obtained free at this site.
The four categories pertaining to how one can most appropriately interact with others is based on four types of auras. In Human Design, the four different auric fields are described as your “type.”
Approximately 70% of the population has a porous, enveloping auric field. They are known as Generators. They have a lot of energy, and are meant to respond to others. Rather than initiate action, they should wait to respond to another. A little under half of all Generators are called Manifesting Generators, as once they respond they can quickly and efficiently move into manifestation.
Approximately 20% of the population has an aura that can penetrate the auras of others, getting to know them in this way. They are called Projectors as their focused aura projects into others. Projectors are meant to be a guide for others; however, their advice is only well received if they wait for an invitation from the other.
Approximately 9% have a repelling aura that is quite strong. They are the ones who should initiate a project or manifest their ideas in the world and are called Manifestors. They are designed to initiate and manifest their dreams, utilizing Generators to do the work.
Finally, 1% of the population is able to see what controls and motivates others from their subconscious and shadow. This 1% has an aura that samples other’s auras allowing the other’s field to filter through them without taking it in. They are called Reflectors. Their ideal role in society would be a Courtroom Judge.
In Human Design, the way that each type should interact with others is known as their “Strategy.”
Human Design uses a nine Chakra system, with the Spleen Chakra and the G-center being the extra two Chakras added to the traditional seven main Chakra systems.
Human Design has Basic strategies that you can apply in your life that allow a new way of being in relationships. You can live Human Design without having to study it.
Perhaps the most valuable aspect of Human Design is the insight it gives regarding decision making. After all, where you are today is primarily a product of the decisions you have made.
The majority of people have one of three ways to make choices. In Human Design, this is called your Inner Authority. None of these three are controlled by the mind. Rather than ruminating about decisions, we should consult the body either through immediate intuition, emotional feeling, or an inner voice centered in the throat.
Those with splenic authority (immediate intuition) should make decisions from their defined spleen center. This is an intuitive knowing in the moment that the choice is presented to you. That same accurate intuition of what is right for you may not be available later. It is immediate in the here and now.
Those with solar plexus authority (emotional feeling) have a more challenging process. They should make decisions based on how they feel about it. However, they must be patient. They should check in with their emotional feeling, make note of it, and wait for an emotional wave to ride out. This could take 2 hours, 2 days, 2 weeks or 2 months. They may need to explain to the person waiting for their decisions that they need to “sleep on it.” When the emotional wave is completed, they check in with their feelings, and if the feeling is the same as the original feeling, then they go with that choice. If the feeling about the decision has changed, then they go with the new choice.
Finally, those with sacral authority (inner voice) have to hear their choice in the form of a “yes/no” question. They either have someone present the question in that way, or they present the choice to themselves. They go into neutral, connect with their throat, and allow an uh-huh (Yes) or un-unh (No) response, and that is what is right for them.
The Reflector lacks all 3 of these Inner Authorities, and instead must wait one month to know if an offer or invitation is right for them. Voicing their thoughts will allow them to suddenly have a deep inner knowing if they can resist being pressured or rushed into a decision.
Each individual is meant to be different from everyone else. Yet, how often as children were we told, “Why can’t you be more like your sister?” Parents, teachers and friends compared us to others, and then we ourselves would compare our self to someone else. This created the impression that it is not okay to be who we are. We then changed how we behave to gain the approval of our parents, teachers and society. In this way, parents, teachers and society condition us. Our unique self, the way we were designed to be, is lost. On a Human Design chart, that which is “red” refers to the way we were designed to be without conditioning. That which is “black” represents the conditioning.
Making decisions with the mind rather than our inner authority results in one not living the life that was intended, this causes stress and resistance. Typically, this appears as frustration for the Generator, bitterness for the Projector, anger for the Manifestor, and disappointment for the Reflector. These feelings are often determined to be rejection or suppression by others. That is what we project onto our loved ones. Instead, we can reassess our actions when influenced by these negative feelings.
When a Generator follows their strategy of responding and their particular inner authority for decision making, they will move from frustration to satisfaction.
When the Projector waits for the invitation, and follows their inner authority, they go from bitterness to recognition and success.
When the Manifestor does not follow their strategy of informing others ahead of time of what they want others to do, they are met with resistance which then makes the Manifestor angry. When the Manifestor follows their strategy of informing others ahead of time of what they want others to do, they lessen the resistance of others who then feel less controlled by the Manifestor. When they reduce the resistance by informing ahead of time, the Manifestor’s anger is transformed to peace.
When a Reflector avoids the pressure from society to conform, and waits a month to decide, they move away from disappointment with the world and relationships. Instead of being an outsider observing, they get invited to the center where they can share what they see is needed. The Reflector is enlivened and pleasantly surprised when they are able to awaken someone with a new insight into themselves that had been unconscious.
If you are inspired to learn more after creating your chart and gathering information at the aforementioned website, then an excellent and complete text is The Definitive Book of Human Design by Lynda Bunnell.
It is fascinating to create charts of your loved ones. By putting your graph side by side with another’s, you can see where certain chakras get completed when the two of you are together, and other chakras become connected within you when in this person’s presence. With a small bit of understanding, a picture is truly worth 10,000 words.
This material is merely an introduction to Human Design. In addition to what was discussed, there are five types of Definition, and twelve different Profiles from 64 hexagrams. Each I Ching Hexagram is referred to as a Gate, and each Gate has six lines for a total of 384 lines. There are circuits, channels, and multiple Incarnation Crosses.
Finally, the deepest understanding of you may come from getting a reading with a certified Human Design analyst. Official Certification comes from the International Human Design School: www.ihdschool.com.
In the absence of the “time of birth” information needed to produce a Human Design chart, we can diagnose one’s Human Design type using acupuncture points that function as alarm points.
Human Design Type | Acupuncture Points |
---|---|
Generator | P6 |
Manifesting | K3 |
Projector | SP6 |
Manifestor | TW17 |
Reflector | HT6 |
After determining the type, either from creating a chart, or in the absence of “time of birth” information from testing the alarm points, one proceeds to the Personal Declarative for the life strategy of that type. Perform standard Neuro-Emotional Technique (NET) protocol for that Personal Declarative.
Type | Personal Declarative for Life Strategy |
---|---|
Generator | I’m ok with waiting to respond to life or to others. |
Manifesting Generator | I’m Ok waiting to respond, and then taking the ball and running with it. |
Projector | I’m ok waiting for the invitation before advising others. |
Manifestor | I’m ok informing others before making my request. |
Reflector | I’m ok with the projections of others on me. |
Next, we clear the Personal Declarative associated with the appropriate “inner authority” from the Human Design chart. In the absence of a chart, one can test the Personal Declarative of each of the four inner authorities to determine which is theirs. Weakening of a muscle when the Personal Declarative is voiced indicates the correct inner authority.
Inner Authority | Personal Declarative |
---|---|
Splenic | I’m ok making decisions based on my knowing in the moment. |
Solar Plexus | I’m ok waiting for the emotional wave to run its course before going with my feeling during decision making. |
Sacral | I’m ok accessing my throat for the uh-huh (yes)/un-unh (no) as my way of knowing what is right for me. |
No inner authority or Self as inner authority |
I’m ok resisting being rushed or pressured to conform, and waiting one month before making my decision. |
Use NET protocol with the Personal Declaratives for the strategy and inner authority of the individual to promote self-growth.
